Vision

The In-service Training Module should be a complete solution for managing a training program for employees, whether trainings are given by the employer or by external organizations. It should track trainings that an employee has completed and assess competencies based on those trainings; thus, it is very closely linked to the Competency Model Module that will also need to be developed. This module should enable the organization to develop and implement training plans for employees, in order to ensure that the employee meets the qualifications required for his/her job and is remaning updated on new requirements.


High-Level Goals

  1. Maintain a database of trainers who are assessed as competent in the skill and competent in training.
  2. Maintain a database of training programs, linked to competencies acquired by completing the course.
  3. Maintain a list of training program categories to link to programs.
  4. Maintain a list of training program funders, including type of funding and organization details.
  5. Create a professional development/training plan for an employee.
  6. Process requests for training made by an employee.
  7. Maintain a history of trainings completed by an employee and performance in each training.
  8. Update employee's competencies after completing a training.
  9. Maintain a database of scholarships and their requirements.
  10. Record scholarships awarded to employees and whether they fulfilled the scholarship's requirements.
  11. Import trainings from other systems and link to competencies (would be nice).
  12. Link trainings to promotions and raises (would be nice; probably later).

  • Training needs assessment - this needs to be thought out
